Another opening of another show...

Here I am, sitting in my new (temporary) apartment in Brussels. Awaiting a new adventure. Tomorrow, I will start with my traineeship at the European Parliament (Press Room). Getting a little anxious now (probably won't get much sleep tonight), but I do think that I am well prepared. I got acquainted with the city of Brussels last weekend (when my mother and I visited the capital of Belgium AND Europe!). By now, I also know which bus to take to the European Parliament, I checked out the route this afternoon (I hope I don't get sick on the bus, otherwise I can always take the metro). And I know where to report at the European Parliament for my accreditation and introduction. So, I will be fine when it comes to finding everything alright tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I will be just as fine when it comes to the actual traineeship.

Oh yes, I occupied my charming temporary apartment yesterday. So far, I am really happy with the apartement. It is almost perfect, very clean and new (a few minor disadvantages, nothing special though). Important: good route for jogging nearby. I went jogging this morning ;D

It is a funny thing, but I just remembered that my favorite American President Harry Truman, through his foreign policy agenda (for example through the Marshall Plan and the Truman Doctrine and the NATO) insisted on (among others) closer cooperation between Western European countries (in order to prevent another world war, in which these countries would be involved). It is fair to say that with his position on European cooperation, Truman was an important player in the eventual creation/founding of the European Union (and its institutions like the European Parliament and the European Commission).

A little off topic (I will probably go off topic more often :D), but kudos to my favorite American football team the Kansas City Chiefs for signing (through a trade) talented young quarterback (playmaker- offense) Matt Cassel and veteran linebacker (defense) Mike Vrabel from the New England Patriots.

The Chiefs were quite bad last season. You might not know a lot about American football, but you will know that winning two of your sixteen games is not really good ;)

With Cassel and Vrabel, the Chiefs have two new players to build a team around and improve steadily. I am now even more curious what the Chiefs will do in this year's draft (when every NFL team picks new players, the best young players out of the American Universities).

So, this is it for now (still have to cook dinner and read through some of the European Parliament's brochures). I don't know when I will be able to post a new message. But I will (at least) try to post a review of the first week on Friday or Saturday.
