My faithful notebook is already in luggage storage. I can only take my backpack on tomorrow's tour, my suitcase had to be left behind (and that had to be done by 6.30 pm). Am now on the internet here, which is free for thirty minutes.
A about my last couple of hours in Perth. Got up early for a nice run through the city. Went to King's Park, very tough climb to get up there. Enjoyed quite a bit of King's Park and took some pictures.
Then climbed down Jacob's Ladder, ran past the waterfront and, after a slight detour, I ran back to the hostel. Took a quick shower and had breakfast. I was ready ready to be taken to the airport (had packed my suitcase the night before). And so was "Smurf," who greatly enjoyed Perth as well. The wine, beer and food of yesterday was a little too much for his little body though ;). "Smurf" has now recuperated nicely and is ready for the next part of the trip (and so am I).
Airport shuttle arrived on time and drove me (and the very important "Smurf" of course :D) to the Domestic Terminal of Perth Airport. Busy little terminal. Our plane was a Boeing 717, a very interesting plane indeed. On the one side there are 2 seats, on the other side there are 3 seats. I don't think I have ever been in this kind of plane before :). But importantly, it was a very reliable plane. After a non-eventful flight, the plane landed in Alice Springs about 2.5 hours later. Alice Springs is such a cute and tiny airport. My suitcase arrived in minutes. And so did the bus to the hostel.
I arrived late in the afternoon, and my suitcase had to be in luggage storage less than an hour later. So I quickly got my backpack ready (for the trip) and my suitcase ready (for the storage). Would have liked some more time, quite sure that I have forgotten something :(.
Had a quick dinner, which I bought at the nearest grocery store. Nice salad and I am now ready for dessert, a delicious looking fruit salad.
Signing off now, early rising tomorrow. Will hopefully have time to post another blog in three days, when I have returned from my three day tour through the Red Center. Looking forward to it very much, even though it is going to be at least 30 degrees (that is quite a difference from Perth, high temperature will be something to get used to ;).
