Nine days until departure....

And the last blog I am writing in my TWENTIES. Tomorrow is the "big" day, sigh. Ah well, there is no turning back now ;). Besides, I am healthy and fit, probably in better shape than I was ten years ago. I am sure that, right now, I would beat my 20-year-old self on the treadmill :D.

I cannot believe that it is only nine days until I leave for Australia!! The preparations for this amazing trip are coming along nicely. During the weekend I bought myself some new, sturdy walking-shoes. They are from a really good brand: Timberland. I feared that I had to pay some good money to buy them. Luckily, I was wrong. The pair of shoes that I wanted were from last season. Apparently, that was enough to give me a discount. Of course, I didn't object to this discount lol. I cannot wait to explore the rugged Australian terrain on my discounted Timberlands. But more about my Australian trip tomorrow, when I will write the first blog in my THIRTIES :( :P.

I cannot resist writing another (portion of a) blog on sports.

Sorry ;).

- US Open: Thirty-year old Roger Federer is playing his best tennis of late. I really hope he will be able to progress to the finals and win his first Grand Slam in almost two years. My other favorite is Andy Roddick. Mainly because he is American. I think that it would be fitting for an American to hold up the US Open trophy on the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
- NFL: The American football season will start this weekend, also on 9/11. I hope that the Kansas City Chiefs are able to put their awful preseason behind them (they lost all of their preseason games). I have confidence in the Chiefs though. They had an awful preseason last year as well. The young team performed surprisingly good during the regular 2010/2011 season. So hopefully, in case of the Chiefs, history will repeat itself (although I would like the Chiefs to make it to the playoffs and actually WIN a playoff game).
- MLB: With the football season about to start, the baseball season is reaching its conclusion. The Boston Red Sox have pretty much guaranteed themselves a spot in the playoffs. So that's good. But I hope that they finish first in their division as well. After all, the Red Sox should beat the NY Yankees on any possible occassion :).
- MOTO GP: Valentino Rossi is bravely trying to ride his below-average Ducati to a decent position on the grid. It is hard. Rossi usually qualifies somewhere in the back of the pack. But then, through sheer determination, manages to climb up to 5th, 6th or 7th position in the race. However, for a nine-time world champion those classifications should be hugely frustrating. Really hope Rossi will manage to at least one more podium finish (preferably a win) before this season ends.
- Eredivisie: The Dutch league started already in August. My team PSV has been very busy over the summer, buying several promising young players. So they SHOULD be a contender for the title. If they mess up (yet again), it will definitely be the end of Fred Rutten's "reign" as coach of the team from Eindhoven.
- In a previous blog, I foolishly failed to mention one of the greatest (multiday) sporting events in the Netherlands: the Vierdaagse from Nijmegen. I went to Nijmegen for the last day. Loved the atmosphere on the "Via Gladiola". A friend of mine participated in this year's Vierdaagse. I wanted to cheer her on during the last couple of kilometers. So I did. Again: Fleur, congratulations with this great achievement!!

Here it ends, my last blog as a youngster ;).

    Brigitte Muskens:

    May the best team win!!!
Hope dat je een gezellig weekend zult hebben. Liefs, Brigitte
